Wooden Hand-turned Bowl #53

$ 45.00

The wood that became this Beech bowl obviously didn’t make it into the woodstove.

Seeking “something new”, I decided on a form that was ‘more wood than hole’. And, being a science fiction fan, the shape of a flying saucer came to be. It’s perfect for a unique candy dish or jewelry bowl, or pocket change holder or any otherworldly use you might have for it.

This Beech wood bowl is 2 1/2 inches tall and 7 inches wide with a 2 inch deep by 3 ½ inch wide container. The finish is a penetrating glossy Tung oil finish. I choose this finish instead of polyurethane to protect the wood yet not hide the grain and character of the wood under several coats of a poly-‘plastic’. It is important to me to see and feel the warmth and texture of the wood.
